Ecuador 0-0 Curaçao: Room's 15 saves earn Advocaat's side historic point - as it happened

Curacao pulled off a stunning defensive showing to hold Ecuador to a 0-0 draw to earn their first World Cup point. The hero of the day was goalkeeper Eloy Room whose 15 saves kept the much more favoured Ecuador at bay. In fact, Ecuador's 15 shots on goal against Curaçao was the most in a FIFA World Cup match without scoring since 1966.

Curaçao's 5-4-1 frustrated Ecuador all day, but Enner Valencia was guilty of two gilt-edged misses at either end of the game with a stunning early save from Room and a last-ditched Jurrien Gaari tackle keeping him from scoring. This result means Ecuador will need a win against Germany in their last group game to stand a chance of qualifying into the knockouts. Curaçao, meanwhile, will be hoping to do one better against Ivory Coast in their last game.
