News: 2 days agoHead coach Mitch Johnson said he expects Stephon Castle, Dylan Harper and Fox to play together more during the regular season, per Raul Dominguez Jr. of the Associated Press.
Spin: Fox played through an ankle sprain for the Spurs during the NBA Finals, averaging only 12.8 points per game while shooting 34.4 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from deep across the five Finals contests. The emergence of Dylan Harper last postseason is a serious threat nipping at Fox's heels for more playing time at point guard, but it sounds like the Spurs are willing to deploy all three in the lineup at times to accommodate all their backcourt talent.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: At 28 years old, Fox finds himself as the grizzled veteran on a team full of young, up-and-coming superstars. Fox's scoring in his first full season with the Spurs (18.6 PPG) was more than six points lower than his average for the five previous seasons (24.7 PPG), in large part because he had to share shots with Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle. Also because he had to share minutes with Dylan Harper, who played well as a rookie and seems poised to pop as a sophomore. Fox's minutes and production could go down more this season as the three young stars all take on even larger roles.
