News: 7 days agoDurant pushed back Monday on the idea of playing reduced minutes in his 20th season, per Ben DuBose of USA Today.
Spin: The future Hall of Famer logged 78 regular-season appearances last year, his most since 2018-19 with the Warriors. Durant also averaged 36.4 minutes per game before going down with an ankle injury and missing five of Houston's six playoff contests. However, it doesn't sound like the 37-year-old perennial All-Star is ready to take it easy for the contending Rockets in 2026-27. Durant trails only LeBron James among the NBA's active minutes leaders.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Durant enters his 20th NBA season as still one of the best scorers in the league. Standing near 7-foot with one of the smoothest jumpers in NBA history, Durant has a playing style that remains effective regardless of age. He is the elder statesman on a talented Rockets team that will get starting point guard Fred VanVleet back this season. Playing with VanVleet should get Durant better looks in the halfcourt offense, so health-willing he could replicate or even surpass his production last season when he ranked 15th in the league in fantasy scoring.
