The betting narratives surrounding the American League and National League MVP awards have apparently flipped as the MLB season moves past the August trade deadline.
Shohei Ohtani was running away with the NL honor -- showing -1000 odds around three weeks ago -- but Pete Crow-Armstrong has since overtaken him, moving to -120, compared to Ohtani's +100. Meanwhile, Yordan Alvarez has begun to pull away from the pack in the AL at -900, with Junior Caminero the only other contender at +700.
The AL Cy Young race continues to be a relatively tight two-man race between Cam Schlittler at -125 and Dylan Cease at +100. In the NL, Jacob Misiorowski has widened his lead from -300 to -525 over the last week-plus, with Chris Sale (+700) and Cristopher Sanchez (11-1) providing the only true challenge.
The NL Rookie of the Year race is a similarly tight two-man one between JJ Wetherholt at -150 and Sal Stewart at +115. The AL still shows Kevin McGonigle as the solid -525 favorite, but Munetaka Murakami continues to keep some momentum. He currently sits at +475, well ahead of any other potential contenders.
