Sources: Texas LT Goosby has bone bruise in knee; status unclear

Texas offensive tackle Trevor Goosby, the top offensive tackle prospect in the 2027 NFL draft, has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee after suffering the injury during Monday's practice, sources tell ESPN.

Goosby underwent an MRI on Tuesday morning, which revealed the bone bruise. A timetable for his return is not certain, sources said, but should emerge in the upcoming days.

The injury diagnosis eliminates any of the worst-case scenarios tied to potential structural damage for Goosby.

Goosby is one of the top returning offensive tackles in college football and ESPN's No. 1 tackle prospect for next April's draft. He's viewed as a potential top-10 pick entering the season after opting to stay in school for his redshirt junior year and has earned multiple first-team preseason All-American nods, including from ESPN and the Associated Press.

The 6-foot-7, 325-pound lineman from Melissa, Texas, has started 15 games for the Longhorns over the past two seasons and was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2025 after allowing just one sack and seven pressures on 807 snaps, according to ESPN Research.

How much offensive line shuffling Texas will do depends on the length of time that Goosby is expected to miss. Texas' tackle depth, like most major college programs, is limited.

Texas opens the season on Sept. 5 against Texas State and then hosts No. 1 Ohio State on Sept. 12.
