Kassouf: London City Lionesses could get Champions League spot (1:59)

Alexia Putellas and Kadidiatou Diani both scored twice as London City Lionesses swept past Tottenham 6-1 at the BetWright Stadium to continue their impressive start in the Women's Super League (WSL).

Spurs -- who had been unbeaten in second place after winning three of their opening four games -- were stunned after Putellas fired the visitors in front after just three minutes.

Grace Geyoro's dipping 25-yard strike was pushed out by Spurs goalkeeper Lize Kop and Putellas reacted quickest to fire the ball in from a tight angle.

France forward Diani doubled the lead in the 22nd minute following a swift counterattack, slotting in a low cross from Lucía Corrales.

Putellas got her second following a corner in the 34th minute, firing in a left-foot shot after Danielle van de Donk's initial effort had been blocked.

Spurs went close to pulling a goal back ahead of half-time when Julie Blakstad's curling free-kick was pushed on to the crossbar by Lionesses' keeper Elene Lete.

Van de Donk added a fourth soon after the restart, converting a cross from Diani after another swift break.

Victoria Pelova pulled a goal back for Spurs in the 53rd minute when she knocked the ball in from Blakstad's pass on the left.

After Spurs winger Olivia Holdt sent a free header wide, the visitors added a fifth with 16 minutes left following a blunder at the other end by goalkeeper Kop.

Putellas sent a hopeful pass forwards, which Kop looked set to clear, but kicked the ball into Diani, who was left free to slot into an empty net.

Substitute Delphine Cascarino scored a sixth for the Lionesses on the break in stoppage time as Spurs saw their club-record seven match unbeaten WSL run brought to a halt.

Elsewhere in the WSL on Saturday, Chelsea continued their unbeaten run with an impressive 3-0 win away to London rivals West Ham to climb top of the table.

A clinical finish from Melvine Malard followed by Keira Walsh's excellent strike put the visitors firmly in control, before Maika Hamano added a third late on.

Aston Villa were on course for their first league win of the season before Crystal Palace spoiled celebrations as Abbie Larkin struck in the 74th minute to salvage a point on the road.

Everton bounced back from their defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby as Ruby Mace scored either side of Oceane Hurtre's goal for Birmingham City to secure all three points at Goodison Park.

The last fixture of the fifth round in the WSL, sees defending champions Manchester City welcome Arsenal looking for their fifth league win of the season to stay perfect.

Arsenal, currently 10th ahead of their trip to City, know defeat today would leave them 10 points behind the league leaders and all but end their WSL title hopes.
