Ma'a Nonu's haka response was a highlight, but there was little bite in his new team, the Sharks, as they were beaten 54-0 by the All Blacks in the second game of Rugby's Greatest Rivalry Tour in South Africa.
New Zealand made it two from two as they warm up for their four-Test series against the Springboks, the last of which will be played in Baltimore in the United States.
Nonu had earlier thrown down a Kapo o Pango haka after the All Blacks had laid down their customary challenge before the second match of their eight-game tour, having already accounted for the Stormers last Friday.
Nonu's response was warmly observed by the New Zealand players, who then acknowledged the midfielder's haka before the opening whistle.
The veteran All Blacks centre and Rugby World Cup winner has opted to continue his astounding career at age 44, taking up a deal with the Durban-based URC side after finishing up with French club Toulon.
But a couple of runs aside, he could do little to stem the All Blacks' second-half rhythm as Dave Rennie's side turned in an improved performance from their 38-21 win over the Stormers in Cape Town.
While the first half at a sodden Kings Park saw both teams struggle, New Zealand eventually found their groove to run in eight tries, including a double to Hurricanes winger Fehi Fineanganofo, seven of which were converted by fly-half Ruben Love.
"We weren't clinical enough in that first half," Rennie told Sky Sport. "And couldn't build enough continuity and pressure to hurt them. So the second half was good. We put pressure on my being accurate and going multi-phase. So, better."
The All Blacks were ill-disciplined in the first half before taking a 14-0 lead to the break, before the passes started to stick and New Zealand were able to open up the Sharks.
Nonu joined the action midway through the second stanza after coming off the bench.
The All Blacks did lose Damian McKenzie to an ankle injury, but Rennie later indicated it was not serious.
