News: 6 hours agoBateman is absent from practice Wednesday for a second straight day, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Spin: No injury has been reported, so it is possible that Bateman's absence is related to a personal matter. With Baltimore's preseason opener coming up this Saturday against Philadelphia, the coaching staff may soon have an update on Bateman's status.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Bateman is entering his sixth season in Baltimore following an injury-plagued 2025 campaign in which he was limited to a career-low 224 receiving yards in 13 games. After scoring nine touchdowns on only 45 receptions in 2024, Bateman had "regression" written all over him entering last season, but it was worse than expected. The 2021 first-round pick saw his target share fall from 15.4% to a career-low 11.4% and his only double-digit fantasy effort came in Week 3. The 26-year-old remains second on Baltimore's depth chart behind Zay Flowers, but even in a new scheme and with a healthy Lamar Jackson under center, he's unlikely to produce his first top-35 fantasy campaign. Bateman isn't the most appealing late-round draft pick.
