The Timberwolves will be without forward Jaden McDaniels for at least the next few games but did see the return of Anthony Edwards in Monday night's blowout win over the Dallas Mavericks.
McDaniels is week-to-week due to a left knee patella tendinopathy and a bone bruise. He injured the knee late in Wednesday's overtime win over the Houston Rockets and missed the Wolves' loss to the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.
Edwards, meanwhile, was out due to right knee soreness. He started Monday's game off the bench after missing the start of the game to go to the bathroom. Edwards finished with 17 points in 23 minutes.
For Edwards to qualify for end-of-season awards, such as All-NBA, he needed to play Monday and not miss another regular-season game. The Timberwolves have seven games remaining in the regular season.
It's a critical time for the Wolves as they are in a tight seeding battle in the Western Conference with eight games to go in the regular season. They are tied in the loss column with the Rockets for the No. 5 seed and 1½ games back of the Nuggets for the No. 4 seed.
McDaniels has been one of the Wolves' iron men over the years, playing more than 70 games in all but one of his six seasons in the NBA. He's averaging 14.8 points, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks this season and is Minnesota's best perimeter defender.
The first round of the NBA playoffs begins April 18.
