News: 2 days agoWembanyama believes he's in better shape this season, per Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio.
Spin: Head coach Mitch Johnson is also looking for more growth in Wembanyama as a playmaker, per Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News. Any rise in ballhandling duties would be a welcome addition for the superstar big man, who's already a candidate to go first overall in fantasy drafts this fall as the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Wembanyama made a leap in Year 3 as arguably the most impactful player in the NBA. On the fantasy front, he set new career highs in scoring (25.0 PPG), rebounds (11.5 RPG) and field goal percentage (51.2%). He took a step back in both blocks (3.1 BPG) and 3-pointers (1.9 3PG), but he still led the league in blocks by a large margin and was top-5 among centers in treys. Wembanyama has missed 54 games over the last two seasons, so durability is a concern, but otherwise he projects as potentially the top producer in category leagues.
