News: 2 days agoHart said Monday that there hasn't been much movement in extension talks with the Knicks and that he doesn't expect a deal to get done, Vincent Goodwill of ESPN reports.

Spin: Hart is eligible for an extension but remains under contract for 2026-27 with a team option for 2027-28, so his comments don't create any immediate uncertainty regarding his status with New York. However, the lack of progress suggests the two sides may enter the season without reaching a new long-term agreement. Hart opened last year as a reserve before assuming a full-time starting role in late November, and he's locked into the first unit to open this season in the wake of Mitchell Robinson's exit.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Hart took a step backwards statistically last season, partially because he was battling nagging injuries for most of the season. He played 11 fewer games with 7.4 fewer MPG than the season before, and that translated to his production. Nevertheless, he remains a dominant rebounder from the wing with plus contributions to assists, 3-pointers and steals who can also average in the low-teens in scoring on 50+ FG%. The Knicks lost some depth this offseason, and if healthy Hart will likely be called upon to return to his more typical 33+ minutes played with the resulting statistical bump this season.
