Iowa quarterback Hank Brown said Tuesday that he suffered an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder against Ohio State, leaving his status uncertain for Friday's game at Washington.
"I'm gonna try to do everything in my power to be able to go out there," Brown told reporters.
Brown left the fourth quarter of Iowa's 31-14 loss Saturday to the Buckeyes with the injury. He said he was able to throw Tuesday and is hopeful he'll be ready for the Huskies, despite the short week.
"Trusting in our training staff, spending as much time as I possibly can in there to just work on it, rehab it and just continue to get movement in there to do whatever it takes to be out there on Friday," he said.
Brown has thrown for 832 yards and five touchdowns this season for the No. 20-ranked Hawkeyes. He tossed the game-winning touchdown on the final play on Sept. 26 in Iowa's 20-19 victory at Michigan. Brown struggled, though, against the Buckeyes, completing just 12 of 27 passes for 132 yards, while throwing his first interception of the season.
Jeremy Hecklinski, who replaced Brown against Ohio State, would get the start if Brown is ruled out. Brown beat out Hecklinski for the starting job after splitting time with him during the preseason.
