AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State cornerback Jaheim Singletary was released from a hospital hours after he left the field on a backboard following a collision with a teammate in the first quarter of the Cyclones' 55-7 victory against Bowling Green on Saturday.

Singletary was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames and had movement in his extremities, the school said. He was later released.

Singletary and linebacker Willie Breland III ran into each other behind the play as Bowling Green's Winn Sharp was nearing the end zone on a 59-yard touchdown. Breland was not injured.

Play was stopped for about 15 minutes as athletic trainers and medics tended to Singletary before he was put on the backboard and taken off the field on a cart. Bowling Green coach Eddie George patted Iowa State coach Jimmy Rogers on the shoulder as they stood together, and players on both sidelines kneeled.

The Cyclones went to the cart to check on their teammate and gathered at midfield before play resumed.

"Really scary situation," Rogers said, "but you kind of see the heartbeat of this team. They rallied around him and prayed for him. Scary to see that happen to anybody. When you build connections as close as this team has become, to a great player, it's hard to watch. Our thoughts are really with Jaheim."
