Titans aren't thinking about past failures in San Diego

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Franchise history is franchise history, and the Tennessee Titans can’t escape it.

But as they head to San Diego, they are not going to pay it any attention.

“It's all different,” coach Mike Mularkey said. “It's irrelevant. Again, (there are) a lot of changes going on this year in 2016. I'd like to make another change.”

The Titans lost in San Diego in 2012, 2010, 2008 (in a 2007 season wild-card playoff game), 2006, 2004 and, as the Houston Oilers, in 1993. The franchise last won there in 1990, three years before Marcus Mariota was born.

Just eight Titans were around for the most recent loss in San Diego. Only four of those -- Derrick Morgan, Jason McCourty, Brett Kern and Marc Mariani -- were part of the 2010 team that also lost at Qualcomm Stadium.

"I think it will be talked a lot about this week by the media, but not the team,” tight-end Delanie Walker said. “To us, it doesn't matter. None of the coaches were here, none of the players were here. ... I don't know, was anyone here?

“So it doesn't matter, this is a new team.”

Location aside, the Titans' primary memory regarding the Chargers is from 2013, when Tennessee beat San Diego in Nashville, 20-17.
