The 2026 Western Conference finalists are neck-and-neck to be the favorites to win the 2027 NBA Finals, with the Oklahoma City Thunder (+250) now slightly favored over the San Antonio Spurs (+260). The Boston Celtics come next at +650 before the reigning champion New York Knicks check in at +700.
However, on Thursday, the morning after the 2026 draft concluded, the NBA experienced another huge shakeup that significantly altered championship futures, as the Charlotte Hornets traded star guard LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Naz Reid and a package of draft picks, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Immediately following news of the swap, the Wolves moved from 30-1 to 22-1 to win the 2027 NBA Finals ... notably putting them just behind the Miami Heat at 18-1. Miami, of course, made a massive deal for two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo earlier in the week, improving the Heat's championship odds from 40-1 as buzz around the deal built, and 30-1 once the move was confirmed.
The Hornets, a play-in team in 2026, dropped on the odds board following the trade, lengthening from 90-1 to 200-1 to win the 2026-27 title, though some potential buyback got them back to 100-1. Elsewhere, the Indiana Pacers lengthened slightly from 35-1 to 40-1 for the title since Wednesday.
