Three South Korea players have apologised after appearing to gloat at being exempt from military service after their Asian Games victory.
South Korea beat hosts Japan 1-0 in the Asian Games football final, thanks to a goal from Swansea's Eom Jisung.
It was their fourth-straight Asian Games title. The victory also ensures players will be exempt from military service.
Before turning 28, able-bodied males are required to serve time in the military. However, there are exceptions, including if someone wins a gold medal at the Asian Games or any medal at the Olympics.
"I don't think the medal or the trophy mattered at all. The real reward for us is the military exemption, so I think we played with only that in mind," Yang Min-hyeok said.
The 20-year-old is signed for Tottenham but is playing on loan at Belgian side KVC Westerlo.
He has also had loan spells at Queens Park Rangers, Portsmouth and Coventry.
Teammates Lee Gi-hyuk and Park Seung-su also issues apologised.
"I am deeply sorry to the fans who are currently fulfilling their military duty, as well as to all those who sincerely supported us,' Lee Gi-hyuk said.
"As an adult, I should have thought carefully before speaking. I deeply regret having spoken so carelessly, and I will continue to reflect on my actions."
