England put in one of their best performances of the Thomas Tuchel era as they thrashed Croatia 7-0 in the Nations League.

Braces from Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka were supplemented by a goal from each of Anthony Gordon, Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rogers, as Bellingham also claimed three assists.

Saturday's match was technically played behind closed doors as a result of crowd disturbances at Croatia's Nations League quarterfinal against France in March 2025 -- seven fans were taken into custody on suspicion of making Nazi salutes during the game. They were later released without being prosecuted due to a lack of evidence.

Nonetheless, a crowd of 6,342 -- mostly made up of children -- was present at the Stadion HNK Rijeka.

After falling to a desperately disappointing defeat to Argentina in the World Cup semifinal despite leading the game with six minutes to play, England's next competitive game -- barring the subsequent third-place playoff -- came against the side which defeated Argentina in the final: Spain.

Tuchel's side more than held their own, overturning Lamine Yamal's early opener to lead the game at halftime thanks to Gordon and Kane.

But goals from Álex Baena and Mikel Oyarzabal meant it was Luis de la Fuente's side who topped the group after one game, a position they still occupy.

But Kane and Gordon were on hand again against Czechia on Tuesday to give England their first win of their Nations League campaign after Pavel Sulc was sent off in the 25th minute.
