Xabi Alonso said he was "emotional" to experience Stamford Bridge for the first time as Chelsea manager as his side ended their preseason campaign with a 3-1 win over Real Sociedad.
Morgan Rogers tapped home from close range to score on his Chelsea debut, following a British record £117 million ($158m) move from Aston Villa, to give his new side the lead after 11 minutes.
But the hosts were pegged back right before the half-time whistle as right back Jon Aramburu levelled the scores.
It did not take long for João Pedro to make his mark though, as he headed home a Reece James cross to put Chelsea back into the lead and the Brazilian was at it again to put Chelsea two goals clear.
It was a very positive way for Alonso to end his first preseason as Chelsea boss and the Spaniard was delighted with the welcome from the supporters.
"It was emotional to feel my first time in the new home," said Alonso.
"A great reception from the supporters to the team and to the new staff, myself as well, so delighted.
"We want to create good connections and have that support. We want to give them good football so they will give us energy, and we connect.

"To have a good atmosphere here in the stadium will be a massive boost for the team."
Chelsea now have nine days to prepare for their Premier League opener at Fulham on Monday, Aug. 24.
Alonso was pleased he was able to give the likes of Rogers, James and Maxence Lacroix decent periods on the field after they returned to training only days before having gone far in the World Cup.
The former Real Madrid manager felt the win was good preparation for the season and believes his squad is ready to get started.
He added: "It was a very good last preparation game."
"For some players it was the first one and the last one. For us, there were some good things, some things we can improve. It's normal at this moment for some players.
"It was great to have all the team together. Some of them after three days could play for 60 minutes. It was the last test.
"Now we have a whole week to prepare for Fulham, but it was a good feeling in the stadium."
