Sam Kerr becomes Chelsea's all-time top scorer in the WSL

Sam Kerr has become Chelsea's all-time top goalscorer in the Women's Super League after finding the back of the net for the 64th time in the division on Sunday.

The Australian international's landmark goal moved her clear of Fran Kirby at the top of the club's scoring chart.

She rose highest in the box to head Niamh Charles' cross past Leicester City goalkeeper Katie Keane at the King Power Stadium.

Kerr has had to manage her fitness carefully this season -- having made her first appearance for Chelsea in September after a 20-month absence.

An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture in January 2024 meant that she missed the entire 2024-25 WSL campaign.

The 32-year-old is a two-time Golden Boot winner in the top flight, scooping the award in 2020-21 and 2021-22 with 21 and 20 goals respectively.

Kerr moved to Chelsea in 2019, having previously split her playing time between Perth Glory and Chicago Red Stars.

She won five consecutive WSL titles under Emma Hayes, and is just three behind Kirby as the club's leading goalscorer in all competitions.
