Inter Milan made to wait on Serie A title with Torino draw

Inter Milan saw their title push put on ice after Torino mounted a late fightback to draw 2-2 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Cristian Chivu's side had looked set to extend their lead at the top of the table to 12 points after a first-half header from Marcus Thuram and Yann Bisseck then nodded in a second just after the hour.

Torino, though, rallied after a breakaway finish from Giovanni Simeone reduced the deficit with 20 minutes left and Nikola Vlasic slotted in a late penalty, which had been given after a VAR review for a controversial handball against Inter defender Carlos Augusto.

Inter now sit 10 points clear of Napoli, with just four Serie A matches left, and can secure the Scudetto when they play Parma at home on May 3.

The Nerazzurri -- who had won their last four games in all competitions -- took the lead in the 23rd minute when Thuram headed in at the back post from Federico Dimarco's floated cross.

A low volley from Dimarco flashed just wide shortly before halftime and Inter picked up their momentum again after the restart.

Torino goalkeeper Alberto Paleari made a fine reaction save at point-blank range to deny Dimarco. Then just as Matteo Darmian looked set to tuck away the rebound, Torino defender Enzo Ebosse slid in to make a saving tackle.

Inter eventually made their pressure pay with a second goal just after the hour.

Dimarco was again the provider as he swung over a corner which Bisseck met to head the ball in off the far post.

Despite Inter seemingly being in total control, Torino mounted a fightback during the closing stages.

Simeone flicked on a pass down the centre for Emirhan Ilkhan, who then laid the ball back off for the Argentine forward and he continued his run on into the area to send a chip over Inter keeper Yann Sommer.

Lifted by the goal, Torino threatened again when Sommer pushed away a fierce angled drive from substitute Alieu Njie.

Torino were awarded a penalty with 12 minutes left following a VAR review for handball by Inter defender Augusto from a header by Duván Zapata at point-blank range.

Vlasic made no mistake from the spot, firing past Sommer into the top left corner.

Inter had a late chance to snatch a winner in stoppage time but Piotr Zielinski fired just wide.
