Chennaiyin v Mumbai City
Chennaiyin FC keep Indian Super League semis dream alive with win
Chennaiyin FC moved up fourth spot in the ISL table after hammering Mumbai City 3-0 to keep their hopes of a playoff place alive.
Stiven Mendoza opened the scoring in the ninth minute as Zakeer Mundampara sent him through to slot past Subrata Pal.
Jeje Lalpekhula then doubled the lead in the 17th minute as Thoi Singh flicked on a Dhanachandra Singh cross and the striker was there to finish from close range.
Chennaiyin star Raphael Augusto was taken off with an injury, as Manuele Blas replaced him, but the club continued their fine form as Mendoza took down a long ball and played it to Bernard Mendy who chipped the goalkeeper.
Pal came to the rescue a few more times to keep the scoreline respectable, while Sunil Chhetri hit the post with what would have been a late consolation.
