NorthEast United FC earned their first win of the Indian Super League season as two late goals from substitutes helped them defeat Chennaiyin FC 2-0 on Tuesday.
Chennaiyin goalkeeper Apoula Edel saved a Diomansy Kamara penalty in the first half, but Harmanjot Khabra was sent off for dissent in the aftermath.
Up a man, NorthEast pushed forward in the second half and found the breakthrough in stoppage time as star player Simao Sabrosa, making his first appearance of the season, converted a penalty after Chennaiyin's Jayesh Rane committed a foul in the box.
And NorthEast completed the win in the closing moments as Nicolas Velez scored on the counter-attack.
