The Wests Tigers are set to land highly-rated teenager David Bryenton after he agreed to terms on a two-year deal from 2027, ESPN has learned.
Bryenton is finalising his release from the Canterbury Bulldogs, clearing the way for the young fullback to join Benji Marshall's side.
Marshall is understood to be a strong admirer of Bryenton and sees him as part of the Tigers' future.
The move resolves months of uncertainty for Bryenton, who left Canterbury's program earlier this year and returned to Queensland. He subsequently made two appearances for the Ipswich Jets in the Hostplus Cup.
Bryenton was among the country's standout schoolboy players in 2025. He represented the Australian Schoolboys and was named the Mal Meninga Cup player of the year before his anticipated move to the Bulldogs.
His agreement with the Tigers gives him a fresh start under Marshall and brings one of the game's most promising young fullbacks into the club's ranks for the next two seasons.
ESPN reported earlier this month that the club had also shown interest in off-contract Newcastle forward Tyson Frizell as it looks to strengthen its squad for next season.
