Three-time NBL championship winner Jaylin Galloway has joined the Cairns Taipans on a one-year deal after securing a release from the Sydney Kings.
Galloway, who was previously on the roster at the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks, joins older brother Kyrin at the Taipans for the new season beginning in September.
The brothers last played together at semi-professional NBL1 side Ipswich Force during the NBL off-season in 2023.
Galloway also reunites with Adam Forde, the coach who handed him his NBL debut at the Kings in 2020.
The 23-year-old is set for a delayed start to the NBL season after undergoing off-season shoulder surgery, but is due for assessment in eight weeks.
A talented wing with immense potential, Galloway this week obtained a release from the Kings who are stacked with talent for their championship defence.
"I signed with Cairns because I wanted a bigger role and opportunity," Galloway said.
"It just felt like the right fit and system for me, where I hope to bring that championship-standard to."
Former NBA player Jack McVeigh, ex-Kings teammates Shaun Bruce and Jonah Bolden, Keanu Pinder and highly rated young gun Luke Paul are other key members on the roster as Cairns fight to recover from a ninth-placed finish.
The Taipans' first game of the season will be against Galloway's old firm the Kings on September 20.
Galloway was on the roster when the Kings won the NBL championship in 2022, 2023 and 2026.
In March 2024, he signed a two-way contract to split his time between the Bucks and their G-League affiliate Wisconsin Herd.
But Galloway was cut without making his NBA debut, returning to the Kings for an injury-plagued 2024/25 season before helping win last season's title.
He was also named Asia Cup MVP for lifting the Boomers to the tournament's gold medal in 2025.
