Harry Kane has matched Peter Shilton's all-time England caps record after starting in the country's Nations League match against Czechia on Tuesday.

Kane has joined Shilton on 125 caps, five more than third-placed Wayne Rooney.

Goalkeeper Shilton has held the record since his final England game -- the third-play playoff at the 1990 World Cup. His international career spanned 19 years and he played 20 games at major tournaments, and kept 66 clean sheets overall.

Kane, 33, can move clear of Shilton if he earns a 126th cap when England host Croatia on Nov. 12. The Bayern Munich striker is already his country's top goalscorer with 89.

Ahead of kickoff on Tuesday, Shilton congratulated Kane in a post on X, saying: "I'd just like to congratulate you on equalling my cap's record for England, and you will go on and beat it in November, I am sure of that -- and maybe go on and set a record that will never be beaten, because you're still going strong, Harry, still playing well and scoring goals.

"And I know how much dedication and hard work you've actually put into achieving this, especially as striker. You've been a great captain, and will be in the future, and obviously, good luck for tonight."

Kane made his England debut back in March 2015 against Lithuania, scoring only 79 seconds after coming off the bench.

He has captained England at the 2018 World Cup, Euro 2020, 2022 World Cup, Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup.

The Bayern Munich striker is England's all-time leading scorer with 89. He surpassed Rooney's previous record of 53 goals in March 2023 against Italy.
