(Bipin Singh 11', Yousseff Ezzejjari 70', 83')
East Bengal moved up to within two points of ISL leaders Mohun Bagan after a routine 3-0 win over Odisha FC at Fatorda on Tuesday evening. Bipin Singh gave Oscar Bruzon's side an early lead, tapping into an empty net after a cross from PV Vishnu, and then Yousseff Ezzejjari scored twice for East Benga.
Ezzejjari's first goal came in the 70th minute, when another cross from Vishnu was parried into the striker's path by Odisha FC goalkeeper Anuj Kumar, for an easy finish eventually.
The striker added his second and East Bengal's third in the 84th minute. Bipin Singh was released down the right, and his composed cut-back found Ezzejjari in space, allowing him to slot home with ease and put the result beyond doubt.
East Bengal have now moved up to fourth in the table with 18 points from nine matches, just two behind leaders Mohun Bagan. Odisha, meanwhile, remain in 13th place with six points.
SC Delhi 2 - 2 Mohammedan SC
(Matija Babovic 17' (P), 52' - T. Adison Singh 40', Hira Mondal 65')
Mohammedan Sporting Club came from behind twice and secured a 2-2 draw against Sporting Club Delhi on Sunday. The result means Mohammedan pick up their third consecutive point, taking their tally to three from ten matches. However, they remain at the bottom of the table. SC Delhi, meanwhile, move to 10th place with nine points from as many matches.
Delhi began on the front foot, dominating possession and pushing Mohammedan deep into their own half in the early exchanges. Their pressure paid off in the 17th minute when Mohammed Aimen drew a foul inside the penalty area by Mohammedan keeper Padam Chhetri, and Matija Babovic stepped up to calmly convert from the spot and give the hosts the lead. The home side continued to control proceedings, with Aimen and Augustine Lalrochana orchestrating attacks, while Mohammedan struggled to build momentum going forward. However, the visitors gradually grew into the contest after the drinks break, showing greater composure in possession. Their improvement was rewarded in the 40th minute with a moment of sharp awareness from forward Thokchom Adison Singh. A long-lofted ball from Makan Chothe caught the defence off guard, and as goalkeeper Nora Fernandes rushed out to clear, Adison calmly took the ball past him before finishing emphatically into an open net to restore parity.
The second half saw a more balanced contest, with Mohammedan showing greater intent in attack. However, it was Sporting Delhi who regained the lead in the 52nd minute. A shot from Lalrochana was parried by Padam Chettri, but it was inside the box and took a rebound of SC Delhi Joseph Sunny to fell kindly for Babovic, who reacted quickest to slot home his second goal of the evening. Undeterred, Mohammedan continued to press and were rewarded again in the 65th minute. From a short corner, a cross was delivered by Lalngaihsaka from the right, Hira Mondal found himself unmarked at the far post and powered a header into the top corner to level the scores once more. The final quarter of the match saw both sides push for a winner, with chances at either end. Mohammedan came close through Lalthankima, whose effort was brilliantly saved by Fernandes, while Sporting Delhi threatened via Sourav K and Rafael Ribeiro, both denied by Padam Chettri. Despite sustained attacking intent from both teams in the closing stages, neither side could find the decisive goal, as defensive resilience and goalkeeping at both ends ensured the points were shared.
Jamshedpur FC 4 - 1 Chennaiyin FC
(Mohammed Sanan 7', 58', Raphael Messi Bouli 27', Nikola Stojanovic 78' - Prakadeswaran S 68')
Jamshedpur FC produced a commanding performance to defeat Chennaiyin FC 4-1 in at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday evening.
A brace by Mohammed Sanan, along with goals from Raphaël Messi Bouli and Nikola Stojanović, secured three points for the hosts for the first time in five matches. They climb to fourth in the standings with 18 points, while Chennaiyin FC remain 10th with nine points.
The hosts made a bright start, with Stojanović and Madih Talal testing the Chennaiyin defence inside the opening minute. Chennaiyin nearly responded immediately, but Irfan Yadwad's close-range header was brilliantly saved by Albino Gomes.
Jamshedpur took the lead in the seventh minute through Sanan. A well-worked move down the right saw Rosenberg Gabriel deliver a low cross into the box. While Messi Bouli failed to connect, the ball fell to Sanan's foot, who fired home from close range to give the hosts an early advantage. The momentum stayed with Jamshedpur, who continued to press forward and create chances through Talal and Stojanović, both of whom came close from distance.
They then doubled their lead in the 27th minute, when Nikhil Barla floated in an inviting cross from the left, and Messi Bouli rose highest to head the ball into the top corner, making it 2-0. Jamshedpur struck again in the 58th minute to effectively seal the contest. Following a quick transition from a goal kick, Sanan found space behind the Chennaiyin defence, rounded the goalkeeper and calmly slotted home his second of the night to make it 3-0.
Chennaiyin pulled one back in the 68th minute through Prakadeswaran S, who cut inside from the right and curled a fine effort into the top corner, offering the visitors a glimmer of hope. However, Jamshedpur restored their three-goal cushion ten minutes later. A well-worked move involving Gabriel and Rei Tachikawa saw the ball worked across to Stojanović, who finished clinically from close range to make it 4-1.
Bengaluru FC 0 - 0 Mumbai City FC
Mumbai City FC lost further ground on leaders Mohun Bagan after a goalless draw against Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday evening. This result means that Mumbai are now a point behind Bagan, having played a game more than the Kolkata club.
The biggest chance of the evening came early in the second half when Lallianzuala Chhangte ran through on goal, and went around Gurpreet Singh Sandhu but saw the angle become too tight on him before he put his finish into the side-netting.
The only other really presentable opportunity fell to Akash Mishra, after a set-piece fell to him at the far-post, but he couldn't get any power on his right-footed finish, which nestled into Gurpreet's gloves.
Bengaluru had more possession, but couldn't break Mumbai down, and finished the game without a single shot on target. They remain on 16 points after 10 games, three behind Mumbai City FC.
It has been a poor season at home for Bengaluru, who have now finished their Kanteerava commitments for the season with just one win from six games, alongwith three draws and two losses.
NorthEast United 0 - 2 FC Goa
(Dejan Drazic 20', Mohammed Yasir 90' + 3')
FC Goa rose to second on the ISL table, a point behind Mohun Bagan and a point below Mumbai City (both of whom have a game in hand) with a comfortable 2-0 win over strugglers NorthEast United.
The opener came after Goa exploited NEUFC's highline with Mohammed Nemil, sparkling in the #10 role, hooking a long ball in behind that Dejan Drazic ran onto and under extreme pressure finished well with an early take. Goa continued to dominate, holding NEUFC at bay comfortably, before Mohammed Yasir added an exclamation point to the performance with a sumptuous finish, curling one into the far top corner off the bar from just inside the box.
Kerala Blasters 2 - 1 Odisha FC
(Víctor Bertomeu 12', Matías Hernández 90' + 4'; Rahim Ali 27')
Kerala Blasters earned their third win of the season with a dramatic injury-time winner over Odisha FC, as Matías Hernández scored from a corner in a 2-1 win. The result pushed the Blasters up to ninth in the table with 11 points, while Odisha remained second-from-bottom.
Kerala Blasters didn't take long to open the scoring, with Víctor Bertomeu finding the net in the twelfth minute. Kévin Yoke jinked his way towards goal and took a shot from range, which took a deflection and looped perfectly into Bertomeu in space the box. The Blasters' striker took a touch and then calmly slotted it past Amrinder Singh to open the scoring. The hosts looked in perfect control, but spurned a few promising positions and were made to pay in the 27th minute as Odisha equalized. Puitea spied Rahim Ali making a clever run into space on the right side of the box and threaded him through, with the Odisha striker sidefooting a powerful low drive into the bottom corner without breaking stride to make it 1-1.
Franchu threatened for the Blasters as the half went on, with a shot from range, and a low cross that was begging to be turned in, but nothing came of it as both sides went into the break on level terms.
The second half saw both sides threaten, but fail to create clear-cut chances for a majority of the second period. Odisha ought to have scored from a set-piece in the 87th minute, as a headed layoff saw the ball bounce two yards in front of goal, but an acrobatic overhead clearance from Aiban saw the Blasters defender prevent Hitesh Sharma from scoring. That proved to be worth its weight in gold as the Blasters scored the winner in injury time. Ebindas Yesudasan sent in a teasing corner from the left, as Amrinder missed the flight of the ball and substitute Hernández headed into an empty net to make it 2-1 for the hosts. There was more drama in store as Odisha's defence failed to play to the whistle and waited for an offside, but Kévin Yoke ran through and scored, only for the referee to overturn it. Vanlalzuidika Chhakchhuak then almost nicked a goal for Odisha at the death, but the Blasters sealed a fortunate victory.
