The Indian men's hockey team suffered yet another loss in their Pro League campaign after going down to the Netherlands 3-2 in Rotterdam.

It was India's opening match of their European leg of the league as they were looking for a better run after losing five of the eight games at home and in Australia. Despite a much-improved performance in the second half, India had to endure their sixth loss in the league.

The home team dominated the opening two quarters. They were extremely quick on the attacks and took only three minutes to open the scoring. Miles Bukkens came up with a superb finish -- a reverse hit with his back facing the goal to ensure his team takes an early lead.

Despite the Dutch's dominance, India equalised six minutes later with Dilpreet Singh's shot taking a big deflection off a Dutch stick and going into net.

The second quarter began the same way as the first with waves of attack from the home team. Koen Bijen struck in the 23rd minute to give his team the lead again. It could've been more if not for some fine saves by India goalkeeper Suraj Karkera.

After the break, India made improvements and showed more intent with the ball.

From their first penalty corner chance in the 33rd minute, they equalised thanks to Sukhjeet Singh. Harmanpreet Singh went for a variation and passed to Hardik Singh who sent it to Sukhjeet who made no mistake in converting from a close range.

Seven minutes later, it was Netherlands' time to go for a variation on a penalty corner and Tijmen Reyenga hit a fierce shot with no chance of saving it.

India went hard in the final quarter, looking for the equaliser but the Dutch held on their lead to seal the win.

Meanwhile, it was a milestone stone day for Manpreet Singh who played his 412th international match, equalling Dilip Tirkey's record of most appearances for India.

India will play their next match on June 17 against Germany.
