A 1991 Honda NSX that once belonged to Ayrton Senna will go up for auction in London at the end of October.
Chassis number T000233 was one of three NSXs delivered to Senna as part of his contract with Honda in the early 1990s and, due to its provenance, carries an estimate of £500,000 to £800,000.
When the car first went on sale in 1990 it had a list price of between £52,000 and £55,000, with low-mileage NSXs from the same era currently listed online for up to £135,000.
The legendary Japanese sports car is closely linked to Senna, who contributed to its development before it went on sale as Honda's answer to the more expensive Porsche and Ferrari sportscars of the era.
Chassis T000233 is finished in Formula Red over a black leather interior and was delivered to Portugal in March 1991 so that Senna could make use of it while staying at his property in Quinta do Lago.
According to the listing on Sotheby's website, the NSX featured in the 1992 documentary, 'Ayrton Senna: Racing Is In My Blood' and was used by the Brazilian to commute to the 1991 Portuguese Grand Prix in Estoril.
Senna, who died in an accident at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, won all three of his world titles with Honda power while racing at McLaren.

He contributed to the latter stages of the development of the NSX, convincing Honda to stiffen the chassis and retune the suspension based on his recommendations.
The ex-Senna NSX, which comes with a fax from Honda confirming this car's original owner, will go under the hammer on Oct. 31 at Sotheby's London Auction in Belgravia.
