Toss: Bangladesh chose to bat vs India

Approaching must-win territory amid a heatwave across the UK, Bangladesh chose to bat under the baking sun in Manchester against India. It was the same pitch where South Africa clinched a thriller against India last Sunday, with equal square boundaries.

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana said they wanted to put runs on the board and "give our everything" as the semi-finals race heats up in the T20 World Cup. They will play the same XI that took down Pakistan in Southampton five days ago.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said it was a good wicket to bat on and batters who spent time there would be rewarded. India have been making changes regularly in the tournament and made two more: spin-bowling allrounder Radha Yadav came in for legspinner Prema Rawat whereas Renuka Singh came in for Arundhati Reddy. This will be the first game for both Radha and Renuka in the ongoing World Cup.

Pakistan and Netherlands have been knocked out of the knockouts race while Australia, India, South Africa and Bangladesh fight for the two semi-final spots from Group 1. The team that loses today will not be knocked out of the tournament yet but will make their qualification chances much tougher.
