Is it right that Matt Henry returned New Zealand's best match figures against England at The Oval? asked Derek Salisbury from New Zealand
Matt Henry had match figures of 11 for 109 in New Zealand's thumping win over England at The Oval last weekend. They were comfortably his country's best figures against England, beating 11 for 169 by Dion Nash at Lord's in 1994. There have been five other instances of a New Zealand bowler taking ten wickets in a match against England, two of them by Richard Hadlee.
Henry's 6 for 29 in the second innings are the fourth-best for New Zealand against England in Tests, bettered only by Lance Cairns, who took 7 for 74 at Headingley in 1983, and 7 for 143 in Wellington in 1984, and Hadlee's 6 for 26 in Wellington in 1978.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reached fifty in just 11 balls against Sri Lanka A the other day. Was this a record? asked Milind Kumar from India, among others
I thought it wouldn't be too long before the 15-year-old phenomenon Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made another appearance here. And so it proved: for India A against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla last weekend, he hurtled to his half-century in just 11 balls. He was out in the ninth over for 94 from 29, with 88 coming in boundaries (ten fours and eight sixes). During the fifth over of the innings, the TV company's computer was predicting a final total of 922!
Eleven balls was indeed the fastest half-century in any List A match (and there have been over 32,400 worldwide now). The previous record of 12 was set by Kaushalya Weeraratne, who played 15 ODIs for Sri Lanka, during Ragama's match against Kurunegala in Colombo in 2005. Another Sri Lankan, Thisara Perera, reached 50 in 13 balls for Army vs Bloomfield in Panagoda in 2021.
The ODI record is 16 balls, by AB de Villiers (on his way to 149 from 44) for South Africa against West Indies in Johannesburg in 2015, and Matthew Forde for West Indies vs Ireland in Dublin in 2025.
Which Test player has had the most innings without ever being run out? asked Jatin Das from India
Top of this list is the former Indian captain Kapil Dev, who was never run out in 184 innings in his 131 Tests. He's just ahead of England's Jonny Bairstow, who escaped being run out in any of his 178 Test innings (100 matches).
Two current players are in sight of Kapil's mark: New Zealand's captain Tom Latham has not yet been run out in 169 innings (94 Tests), while Dinesh Chandimal of Sri Lanka has so far had 161 innings (90 matches) without suffering a run-out.
The ODI record is held by Maurice Odumbe of Kenya, who had 59 innings without ever being run out, two more than Zimbabwe's Regis Chakabva; New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell has so far had 55 ODI innings without a run-out.
In T20Is, three West Indians lead the way: Rovman Powell has so far had 106 innings without being run out, Brandon King 85, and Kieron Pollard 83.
In the recent Test against Afghanistan, Mohammed Siraj scored 22, all in boundaries. What's the record for the highest individual score entirely made up of boundaries? asked Azhar from the United Arab Emirates
Mohammed Siraj's 22, which was made up of four fours and a six, came against Afghanistan in Mullanpur earlier this month. The highest Test score entirely in boundaries is a relatively modest 32, set by Sanath Jayasuriya for Sri Lanka against India in Colombo in 1997, and equalled by Neil Wagner for New Zealand vs South Africa in Dunedin in 2017.
The record for ODIs is 24, which is shared by five batters - Brendon McCullum for New Zealand vs Australia in Auckland in 2010, Sunil Narine for West Indies vs Australia in Perth in 2013 (all sixes), Dawlat Zadran for Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe in Bulawayo in 2014 (also four sixes, and not out), Prithvi Shaw for India vs New Zealand in Auckland in 2020, and Ruben Trumpelmann for Namibia vs Nepal in Kirtipur in 2023 (also not out).
In T20s the highest is Tanzid Hasan's 40 - with four fours and four sixes - for Bangladesh against United Arab Emirates in Sharjah in 2025.
Is Venkatesh Iyer the first player to win three back-to-back IPL trophies? asked Neeraj Nayak from India
Venkatesh Iyer did win with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2026, but in 2025 he was still on KKR's books. There are, however, three players who have picked up IPL winners' medals three years running. Karn Sharma was part of the Sunrisers squad that won in 2016, although he didn't play in the final - but he did feature in the finals of 2017 (for Mumbai Indians) and 2018 (for Chennai Super Kings). The unrelated Suyash Sharma played for KKR in 2024 (but not in the final) and was part of the RCB squad in 2025 and 2026, although he didn't play in this year's final. Finally, England's Phil Salt was in the KKR squad in 2024, and moved to RCB for 2025 and 2026; he missed the finals of 2024 and 2026.
