Sophie Molineux: "It was full of momentum both ends of the first innings. But we knew that was going to happen. The short boundary down the slope against the win, there was a bit going on there. [On not getting a wicket in the powerplay] I feel like we have got early wickets throughout the tournament. Today at the same time we had to hold them. We knew even if we didn't get a wicket early, we could pull them back. We just had to hang in there as things change real quick. Pez said that 170 is very, very gettable and her actions speak louder than words and she was good to go out there and chase it down with Ash. [On the Perry-Gardner partnership] Those two batted beautifully. The way those two use their smarts, use their skills and target the short boundary and get the little things going, great to see those two get together and put on a big partnership."

Harmanpreet Kaur: "[On their total] I think end of the day we got a decent total on the board. In between when we were batting I thought we were a little short but in the last over I thought I did the job for us. But we didn't play well. I think they were looking for the runs but didn't get it. Australia bowled well. Through the tournament, we didn't play good against good teams. We need to improve against good teams. [On her record against Australia] Against best teams, your best comes out and they are one of the best teams in the world and pushing us to get to their level. Today we were in the game for quite some time but still I think we didn't play to our standards and as a group we need to think about that. As a group we really need to rethink a lot of things. Because sometimes we are in the game but last few overs we give away easy runs, and when we are chasing we are not able to get those runs while batting. So we need to rethink in the next couple of months."

POTM, Ellyse Perry: "It's been a wonderful day for us. Incredible atmosphere. To do it against India, who we've had many battles with, really special day. [On her partnership] We obviously got to see how India bat and knew it was a good wicket and just needed a good partnership. Ash was superb. Targeted the first two balls of every over and got regular boundaries. I think it's been a wonderful tournament so far. Every venue has had great atmosphere and the cricket has been very competitive. Hopefully two more big games to go. But focus will be on the semi-finals first. Preparation's been awesome and everyone's just enjoying it."

5.45pm A clinical, professional and no-nonsense win for Australia, and one that underlines their status as favourites in this World Cup. Even after Harmanpreet lifted India to a score that their vice-captain said they were targeting from the start and the highest ever against Australia in a Women's T20 World Cup, even after they lost three wickets in the first ten overs, Australia have cruised to victory without ever really looking troubled. No drama, easy as. And it was two of their most experienced hands in Ellyse Perry and Ash Gardner who turned on the style. For India, there will be questions about the strike rate of some batters, not giving Richa Ghosh enough time in the middle, and bowling plans. But the headline is this: the reigning ODI champs are out of the T20 World Cup in the group stage for the second successive time.
