What a thrilling game this has turned out to be. In case you missed any of the action, Firdose's report will in be in soon. That's all from us this evening. A rest day tomorrow at the T20 World Cup and we will be back nice and early on Tuesday for more action. Until then, this is me, Ashish Pant, signing off on behalf of Sudarshanan and Raghav. Ciao!
Laura Wolvaardt, South Africa captain: What a finish, what a game. I think we were very stressed up on the bench there. I think to win from the position that we were in was absolutely incredible and it's probably one of the best knocks I've seen under so much pressure. And to do it against a side that we lost the final to as well is pretty special. [On Kapp] I think she's probably the biggest big match player that I've ever seen. I'm really glad she's on my team. It seems like whenever there's something on the line or we're playing a World Cup, she finds a way to bring out her best cricket. I actually think she wasn't actually feeling that great today, but I hope she doesn't feel great every day if she's going to play like this. So it's absolutely incredible. I think she's two players in one. The way that she bowled as well was awesome. The way that she bowled in the previous game and now to play a knock like this is incredible. She just has that competitive nature, I guess, and it just brings out the best in her. [On the chase] Yeah, we didn't get off to the best start. I think we would have liked to get ahead of it a bit early. In a game like this, we actually wanted to get ahead of the rate early because we knew the slow spin would be difficult later. We had a bit too much to do for the back end, but it took something special to get it done, thankfully. But I think we can definitely be a bit better, even if it's not there in the powerplay, just getting off strike.
[On the bowling] I think the way that they started the first two overs, they pretty much smashed. To be able to come back like that, I think our bowlers in the middle were excellent. They all changed up pretty well. I think we just didn't leave the stumps and didn't give them much to work with. We were able to keep the big hitters quiet at the end there, which was pretty big too. I think if you'd told us 160, we definitely would have taken it pre-match. But yeah, happy we got it over the line.
Harmanpreet Kaur, India captain: We got a couple of chances in between but couldn't take those chances. We have two matches and this is the time to stay positive. Shree Charani and Shafali bowled well but the fielders didn't support them. We have to take opportunities at this level. We were not lucky enough with that. We have two matches and this is the time to think about that. We will sit and rethink about what to do and then will see the changes to be done. [On Kapp] She took the game away from us. She gave us two chances and those were the crucial moments and that took the game away from us. Ball was turning. Shafali and Shree Charani did really well. [On her 200th T20I] Lots of learnings, lots of positive moments and lots of moments where I have to stay strong. Now is the time to stay positive and think what to do in the upcoming games. Hopefully we come up better in the next games.
Marizanne Kapp is the player of the match: It was a tough game. Playing India is always tough. And I am very proud of the way the team came back. I was just praying to be honest. I do well if I am in earlier. I struggled in the first few balls. The partnership with Taz set us up beautifully. We said it is a tough place to bat because you can't let it get too far but you also can't lose too many wickets. We had the big hitters in the back-end and just wanted to put our heads down. [India in batting powerplay] We know they always do [score quick]. Especially this wicket it was flat with the ball. They have got some wonderful players. But the bowlers brought us back and that saved us. [The crowd] I was calm out there and was just praying. I like the Indian fans, seems like they shout my name. I don't mind that
5.52pm And breathe! What is it about South Africa-India World Cup games! Another thriller, another game going down to the last over and Kapp has taken South Africa to a brilliant win. She finishes unbeaten on 81 off 45 balls and helps SA move to third on the points table. Their 159 chase was going nowhere. They had managed just 25 runs in the powerplay. But then Kapp and Brits had a 97 run stand off 63 balls with Kapp the aggressor. She rode her luck; she was dropped three times, once by Nandani and twice by Radha and cashed in. The required rate was still surging but she cleared the boundaries at regular intervals and took SA home in the final over. That means SA's hopes of making the semi are alive
Mohd Irshad : "I think it will all go down to the IndiaVsAustralia game, blockbuster game."
Pdma: "Poor fielding and poor running between the wickets cost India this match. It was just an off day for the girls. Anyways, well played.. prep for next.."
Sunitha : "Marizzane Kapp's performance may have injected some much needed belief and confidence into SA ! What a player !"
JOHN: "Doff your cap to Marizanne Kapp - beat India and the partisan crowd on her own "
Here's Sampath with some stat nuggets: Marizanne Kapp's 81* is the second-highest score in a women's T20 World Cup chase, behind Shemaine Campbelle's 90* vs New Zealand
