All-round de Leede leads Netherlands to thumping win over Namibia
A number of Namibia batters got starts, but no one apart from a somewhat restrained Loftie-Eaton got a substantial score, meaning they stopped well below the par score

That wraps up all the action from Delhi today. With this win, the Netherlands climb to the second spot in the Group A points table. Don't go anywhere, as our triple-header continues with New Zealand taking on the United Arab Emirates in Chennai; the first ball is just 30 minutes away. Until then, take care and goodbye from me, our scorer Ranjith P, and the rest of the ESPNcricinfo crew.
Mustafa Moudi: "Both the Jan's Scored just 72 Runs in 64 Balls combined. Given the amount of time they were on crease, they could have easily scored 15 Runs more and helped Namibia to reach 170. Cant say about the result but Netherlands would surely had a Hard time if the target was 170 !!"
Scott Edwards: "It was a pretty good day. I think we probably got the better of the conditions. Our guys bowled really well through the powerplay, and by taking those late wickets, we restricted them to what we felt was a below-par score. [Planning against the leftie batters] We back our right-arm off-spinners to bowl to anyone, but it's certainly nice when there are several left-handers through the middle so we can keep attacking them with spin. I actually thought they negated it quite well in the end, but our bowlers were solid all around. [Bas de Leede] He does it all, doesn't he? He was sensational. I think he bowled his first over around the 10th and just really took control of the game for us. Then, he was incredibly clinical with the bat as well. [Plans for the run chase] We give our openers the freedom to express themselves. I thought we had a decent powerplay; it would have been nice to be only one down, but we back our guys to go hard and get us ahead of the game. [Michael Levitt] He's been massive for us over the last few years. He's such an aggressive batsman with so much power, and he really puts bowlers off their lengths. It was good to see him get going, and I'm sure he has a big score just around the corner. [Next game against USA] It's massive. We have to win that game to give ourselves a real chance. We'll be traveling tomorrow and then focusing entirely on getting ready for that performance."
Gerhard Erasmus: "[Sum up the performance] I thought we did reasonably well early on. The wicket was quite tacky at the start of the morning, so being forty for one was a bit low on runs but good for assessing where we were in the game. We saw the ball stopping a bit, especially for the spinners. All in all, I thought we did a decent job up until the halfway mark, but we couldn't quite push that total deep enough. There were some big moments in those last three overs where the batters tried to reach 160 or 170, but we just didn't get there today. [Halfway stage discussion] It was a matter of applying pressure early. I felt there was still enough in the wicket to make things difficult, but it's always tough to manage that when you're short on runs. You find yourself having to make extra changes to try and buy a wicket or a tight over. We tried our best in periods, but we just didn't have enough on the board to keep the pressure on. [Massive fixture coming up] We need to get accustomed to the lights. It's going to be a loud game, so we just have to figure that out and enjoy the occasion. I believe if you enjoy the moment, your body language stays positive and the results should follow."
Bas de Leede, the player of the match today, recorded the joint-highest individual score for Netherlands at the men's T20 World Cup.
Player of the Match, Bas de Leede: "I think we were lucky to bowl first; it gave us a good look at the wicket, and I thought we adjusted really well as a bowling group. Later in the game, I felt the pitch started skidding on a bit, so credit to the batters for adapting to that as well. [Bowling length] Probably a touch shorter than usual. We felt the wicket was a little bit sticky, so both the spinners and seamers tried to bowl slightly shorter to force the batters into hitting balls that weren't quite there for them. [Best scoring options] Down the ground. As a batting group, we speak a lot about adapting to conditions. You saw the guys coming in were trying to hit as straight as possible, which was best suited for this wicket. [Committed fully to international cricket] It's allowed me to focus. Especially over the last couple of months leading into the T20 World Cup, I knew what was needed and spent a lot of hours specifically trying to improve my game for this."
2:06 pm This was the Netherlands' biggest win in T20 World Cup history. Namibia got off to a strong start by removing O'Dowd in the third over, but Levitt quickly countered with an aggressive 28 off 15 balls, including three sixes, before departing in the final over of the powerplay. With the score at 50/2, De Leede and Ackermann took over, steadying the chase through clever strike rotation and low-risk cricket. Ackermann was handed a life on 14 when Steenkamp dropped a catch in the 10th over, and he made the most of it, contributing to a vital 70-run stand before eventually holing out for 32. Bas de Leede was the undisputed hero of the chase. He anchored the innings brilliantly, finding the ropes and clearing the fence whenever needed to keep the required rate under control. Captain Scott Edwards provided a quick-fire 18 off just 9 deliveries to shift the momentum even further in their favor. De Leede finished unbeaten on a superb 72 from 48 balls to see his side home. It was a clinical performance from the Netherlands to secure their first points of the tournament. While the Dutch celebrate, Namibia will need to head back to the drawing board to address their mistakes if they want to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Mishal Mansur: "I feel Namibia lost a trick here. They could have bowled Myburgh earlier instead of the pacers. Leg breaks tend to bring wi
