4.00pm Pakistan win the toss and will bowl. Was always a likely decision with the chance of dew later on
Still waiting for confirmation of the Australia XI. Will bring it to you as soon as we get it.
3.55pm Toss a few minutes away, but Pakistan have dropped their XI - there's an ODI debut for Arafat Minhas:
1 Sahibzada Farhan, 2 Maaz Sadaqat, 3 Babar Azam, 4 Ghazi Ghori (wk), 5 Salman Ali Agha, 6 Abdul Samad, 7 Shadab Khan, 8 Arafat Minhas, 9 Shaheen Shah Afridi (capt), 10 Haris Rauf, 11 Abrar Ahmed
Aswin: "Curious about the start time of this match!! It seems full match will end at 2 AM tomorrow!!" Trying to avoid the worst of the heat. And, yes, will be a late finish although hopefully not quite 2am!
Hanzala: "No Sufyan, wonderful. The leading wicket taker in the PSL by a mile. They won't play him this entire series, mark my words."
3.50pm Ghaffar: "In between all chaos recently Pakistan beat Australia in last 2 ODI series home and away"
Here's some thoughts from Shaheen Afridi ahead of the series
3.40pm Sameer Okaz: "Babar was dropped from ODIs against Bangladesh series due to poor form in T20 world cup. And he is back in ODIs after fantastic PSL. Is this how things work in Pakistan? Perform in shorter format or be poor and you will be dropped from other format this time It's Rizwan." - Ah, the wonderful world of Pakistan selection
Shayan: "I still cannot wrap my mind around playing new talent when you have, give or take, 10-15 ODI matches before the World Cup, Pakistan should play their full strength XI every match from now on, Fakhar and Saim should be their openers, which should be confirmed by now. Rizwan should be brought back, and this Pakistan side isn't looking too bad." - Fakhar and Saim not available, so that has forced their hand somewhat
3.35pm This is something of a milestone match for Pakistan: the 1000th ODI for the men's team. That's a lot of cricket. Plenty of memorable days among them, although perhaps less so recently.
For Australia, one thing we know from their camp is that Ollie Peake will make his ODI debut - becoming their fourth youngest debutant in men's ODIs and youngest specialist batter. He spoke before the tour amid what has been a rapid rise, while head coach Andrew McDonald has cautioned on expectations.
Meanwhile, there will be a significant retirement after this series - but it's not a player, as Ahsan Iftikhar Nagi reports.
3.30pm Hello and welcome to our coverage of the opening match of this three-game series between Pakistan and Australia. It's the second half of the tour which had the T20Is before the World Cup earlier this year. Still a while until the 2027 ODI World Cup, but never too early to start the planning - so what can the teams get from this series? The preview sets the scene for you. Andrew McGlashan and Rvel Zahid will bring you the action.
