Nicholas Pooran: "It was a tough turnaround. The guys came in a few days ago, and then to play a back to back game is always challenging, but credit to them. They woke up this morning, did the recovery, came to the meetings, and we knew what we had to do today. Obviously it started from yesterday, right? You take the small margins. Yes, we got defeated, but we didn't give up, and that's most important. In T20 cricket, you don't want to get blown away by teams; you want to stay as consistent as possible, stay in the fight, and give yourself a chance. We knew yesterday where we went wrong. Getting the opportunity to bowl first again today, Boult came on, brought his experience, and that is exactly what we needed. The rest of the guys followed suit, and it was a brilliant performance from the boys at the back. Losing only two wickets and getting the job done so well was excellent. [Slow start] For some reason, that first game haunts us, but it's not how we start. We knew that for a fact in the first year, and then obviously last year, having challenging starts and still coming back and winning the competition. We, as a team, pride ourselves on putting our heads together and figuring it out. Kudos to the entire group, from the owners, management, and coaches to the players, for sticking together in a tough time. That defines our team and the guys in the blue. It's a special group, and we're here to win. We know who we're playing for, and we know the challenge is to win every single competition. Our mindset is to turn up and be as professional as we can. Yes, the games come very fast, but at the end of the day, we are professionals. We need to wake up, do what's required, and focus on performances and results. Player of the Match, Corbin Bosch: "It was fantastic getting your first one on the board. I think it was. We were quite rusty yesterday, so it was nice to put a really good performance in, especially from a bowling perspective. After a little bit of carnage yesterday, we brought it back nicely today. [Approaching the game] Today we reflected earlier and just said we gotta keep it as simple as possible. I think we did that a lot better today than yesterday, and we executed better. Our plans and execution were just right up there, and it showed today. [Comparing yesterday's match] I think they were probably both just as difficult. We were just a little bit sharper today than we were yesterday. With the bowling yesterday, we were a little bit sloppy at times, and we were just more switched on for the game today."

Donovan Ferreira: "[Target score] I think we were a bit short, but we had belief that we could obviously defend it just by hitting good lengths. Unfortunately for us, it didn't come off today. [What went wrong with the bowling?] History shows you that batting second here gets a little easier, so we needed to control the powerplay. I think we dragged it out nicely with one or two close calls there at the back end, but yeah, unfortunately we didn't have enough on the board. [Moving on to Oakland] Well, I mean it's a completely different venue. We have a couple of days now moving on, so it's just about assessing the conditions there and hitting the ground running."

10:58 pm A dominant start by MI New York with the bat, and to rub salt into the wounds, de Silva dropped a dolly off Monank in the third over. The openers put on a 49-run stand before de Silva finally sent de Kock back to the dressing room, forcing him to chop one onto his stumps. From there, Monank and Pooran built a commanding partnership, rotating the strike cleanly and finding the boundary at will. Monank was eventually trapped in front by a beautiful slower ball from Viljoen, departing for a well-struck 46. Pooran then played a true captain's knock, keeping his composure to guide his team effortlessly toward the target. Remaining unbeaten on 68 runs, he scored freely and looked supremely confident - always an absolute treat to watch when he is in full gear. The Super Kings, meanwhile, were incredibly wayward with the ball, leaking a heap of extras and lacking the X-factor needed to defend their total or cause any real trouble for the men in blue.
