That will be it from qualifier 1 but don't go anywhere as Colombo Strikers and Kandy Falcons are all set to face in the eliminator which starts in just about an hour from now. Andrew Fidel Fernando should fire up the comms soon enough for that game. Till then, this is me Ashish Pant, signing off on behalf on Abhimanyu Bose. Ciao!
Niroshan Dickwella: [Change in batting order] Another outing, another win. We wanted to give Janith [Liynanage] an opportunity as he was batting here and there. We wanted to give him a chance at No. 4. Even in the last game, I said so much competition for a place in this team, so unfortunately players miss out. [Review] I thought umpire had given it. I didn't feel the ball hitting my gloves, so I reviewed.
Charith Asalanka: We have another match. We need to be more disciplined in all three departments. I dropped a very important chance and I take responsibility for losing this match. I let my team down. It is my responsibility. It was a defendable score, we could have scored 10-15 more runs.
Dwaine Pretorius is Player of the Match: [how to bowl on this surface?] This one is really important to keep your length. They might hit you for a four and six but you need to keep banging that six to seven metres length. This pitch was two paced. We sat down as a bowling group before this and wanted to win the powerplay. Really important to win that. We put the momentum in our favour.
Time for presentation
6.12pm Marvellous Galle Marvels have booked a place in the final courtesy of an exceptional chase. A 178 chase was never going to be easy but Galle timed the chase to perfection. Alex Hales had a couple of reprieves and along with Tim Seifert, he took Galle forward as they reached 70 for 2 after the powerplay. Janith Liyanage was promoted to No. 4 and he repaid the team's faith as he collected boundaries at every given chance. He alongside Seifert stitched a 92-run stand for the third wicket and Jaffna never had a chance to come back. Both batters coasted to fifties and in the end, Galle sealed a win 11 balls to spare.
Galle need three for a win. Surely the last over of the game? Shamsi to bowl out. An extra fielder comes into the circle.
END OF OVER:18 | 12 Runs | GAM: 175/3 (3 runs required from 12 balls, RR: 9.72, RRR: 1.50)
- Tim Seifert56 (40b)
- Bhanuka Rajapaksa8 (7b)
- Azmatullah Omarzai3-0-33-1
- Tabraiz Shamsi3-0-21-1
Galle need four more.
