Having had to toil 72 overs for their first wicket of the day, England managed to then take 4 for 44 across the next 12.1. It's probably worth saying that New Zealand remain well on top, having amassed 317 between the openers, with twin centuries from Tom Latham and Devon Conway. But Ben Stokes broke through after a fruitless morning and afternoon, in which they barely created a chance - and he'll have plenty to say in the changing room before the England bowlers go to their hotel for a well-earned rest tonight. Here is Conway talking to Sky: "Great day for us, nice to put on a partnership. Happy with how things went. [Bat long after winning toss?] That was the play obviously. Knew the wicket would be quite nice, important to put pressure on the bowling. Nice to be out there for an extended time and build partnerships. Felt out of sorts at times, been struggling with my pre-movement this series. [Changes?] Was trying out keeping my back foot still, not having that pre-movement. Tried it for three balls, then went back to getting the movement in there. [Baby dash home] Long trip but really glad to get back and see the wife and little one.
