News: 2 days agoFerguson was a standout performer during the Rams' joint practice with the Cowboys on Tuesday, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.

Spin: Star wideout Puka Nacua (groin) made an early exit from practice; that opened up extra targets for others, and Ferguson looks to have been one of the main beneficiaries. According to play-by-play notes provided by Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Ferguson notched at least four receptions, two of which went for big gains. Ferguson had an excellent pass-catching profile coming out of Oregon, and he averaged an impressive 21.0 yards per reception on 11 catches as a rookie second-round pick in 2025. Though the Rams maintain a crowded tight-end room heading into 2026, Ferguson should still see his role grow in Year 2 while head coach Sean McVay frequently favors two- or three-tight-end sets.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Ferguson is a potential breakout candidate in his second NFL season. As expected, the 2025 second-rounder played a situational role behind the likes of Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen as a rookie. He didn't get much run, but when he did, he was used as a vertical threat to the extreme. His 17.5 aDOT is highest by any tight end (minimum 10 targets) in at least a decade. The Rams are returning the same tight end room plus second-round pick Max Klare, so while consistent production could prove elusive, Ferguson very well could emerge as the No. 3 pass catcher behind Puka Nacua and 33-year-old Davante Adams in the Rams' elite offense. The 23-year-old, who also saw five end zone targets as a rookie, is worth a late-round lottery ticket.
