News: 14 hours agoCoach Ben Johnson said Williams is "getting better every singly day" but won't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough, Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Spin: Williams exited a Week 2 loss to the Vikings in the fourth quarter due to a hamstring injury. He was considered week-to-week by Johnson afterward and then didn't practice at all before being ruled out for Monday's game against the Eagles. On Sunday, Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport of ESPN reported that Williams was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, which is considered to be a 3-to-4-week injury. Johnson told Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com on Wednesday that "the direction has already been made" as it pertains to a Week 4 starting QB this Sunday versus the Jets, but who that may be between Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent isn't known.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Williams enters his third NFL season after a solid rookie campaign in 2024 followed by a big leap forward in 2025. Williams finished last season no lower than 11th among QBs in pass attempts, completions, pass yards, passing TDs, carries, rush yards, rush TDs and fantasy points per game. While Williams' completion percentage was one of the worst in the league (58%), his dual-threat ability and turnover avoidance (seven INTs both seasons) has led to solid fantasy output. The 2024 No. 1 draft pick has a good supporting cast in playcaller Ben Johnson and a trio of young pass catchers in Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III and Colston Loveland. Williams is a fringe QB1 with upside for another leap.
