The Chicago Blackhawks and forward Joakim Nordstrom agreed to a one-year contract on Wednesday.
Nordstrom, 23, was a restricted free agent after last season. He had three assists and averaged 10:58 of ice time in 38 regular-season games for the Blackhawks last season. He also played in three playoff games during their Stanley Cup run. He has played 54 regular-season games and 10 playoff games for the Blackhawks in the last two seasons. Nordstrom agreed to his qualifying offer, which is a two-way deal and pays $605,000 if he's in the NHL, according to a source.
Nordstrom was drafted by the Blackhawks in the third round in 2010. He was named captain of the Rockford IceHogs, the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate, prior to last season.
The Blackhawks' only remaining unsigned restricted free agent is Marcus Kruger.
