INDIANAPOLIS -- The Houston Texans put wide receiver on injured reserve Saturday because of an ankle injury.

Strong injured his ankle Week 8 against the Detroit Lions and has been out since. He returned to practice this week as a limited participant Wednesday and Thursday for the first time since he sustained the injury but did not practice Friday and was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

In eight games this season, Strong had 14 catches for 131 yards. The third-round draft pick had 14 catches for 161 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie season last year.

On Wednesday, Strong said his ankle felt "good."

“It’s a process," Strong said. "Just one day at a time. Just thankful to be back out there with the guys.”

With receiver Braxton Miller ruled out for Sunday's game, the Texans have wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller and Keith Mumphery available against the Colts.

In a corresponding move, the Texans promoted cornerback Denzel Rice from the practice squad to the active roster.
