Mohun Bagan SG 3 - 2 Punjab FC
(Jamie Maclaren 29', Sahal Abdul Samad 73', Jason Cummings 90+1' - Dani Ramirez 12', Nsungusi Effiong 60')
Mohun Bagan climbed to second place in the ISL standings, a point behind leaders Mumbai City FC, thanks to an injury time goal from Jason Cummings that owed a lot to Punjab goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh. A topsy-turvy encounter saw Bagan come back twice to equalise before scoring a late winner, a game that saw Punjab go from being in title contention to seventh place in the table.
Punjab took an early lead in the 12th minute, with Dani Ramirez finding the net. Muhammed Uvais sent in a peach of a low cross from the left wing, which narrowly evaded Nsungusi Effiong sliding in, but Ramirez was unmarked at the far post to control and stroke the ball home. Bagan came close via Liston Colaco rifling a powerful drive that Arshdeep Singh could only palm onto the post, but they didn't have to wait too long.
The equalizer on the half-hour mark came via a familiar route, as Jamie Maclaren scored his eighth goal of the season. Robinho's clever flick sent Maclaren into the left channel of the box, and he cut inside to outfox his marker, before powering a low drive at the near post that went through Arshdeep. Bagan looked to have taken the lead in first-half injury-time only for Dimi Petratos' goal to be ruled out for offside.
The hosts were made to rue that decision on the hour mark, as Effiong restored Punjab's lead. Abhishek Singh's attempt at a tackle saw the ball loop up towards the centre of the box, and Effiong produced an acrobatic volley despite Mehtab Singh's attentions to make it 2-1 to Punjab in the 60th minute. Bagan's resolve didn't dip, and equalised in the 73rd minute through a stunning Sahal Abdul Samad goal. In space in the middle of the park, Samad let fly from range and his strike swerved and dipped before nestling into the top corner to make it 2-2.
Bagan kept piling on the pressure and it told in the first minute of injury time via Jason Cummings. The Bagan forward sent in a regulation free-kick curving in from the right wing, and Arshdeep flapped at the ball and completely missed the trajectory, perhaps distracted by Tom Aldred's presence, and watched in horror as it sailed over him and into the net to gift Bagan the victory in injury time.
Inter Kashi 1 - 0 Mohammedan SC
(Mohammed Asif Khan 16')
Mohammed Asif's first-half strike proved decisive as Inter Kashi edged Mohammedan Sporting Club 1-0 at the Kalyani Stadium, securing their second consecutive victory this season. The result sees Inter Kashi climb to eighth in the standings with 11 points from eight matches, while Mohammedan remain rooted to the bottom without a point in seven matches.
Mohammedan began on the front foot, winning a flurry of corners in the opening minutes but failed to capitalise on their early pressure. Inter Kashi gradually settled into the contest and found the breakthrough in the 15th minute through a well-worked move down the left. Left winger Rohit Danu released Sandip Mandi on the overlap, and the full-back drove into the box before cutting the ball back into the centre. Mohammed Asif timed his run perfectly and produced a composed left-footed finish into the bottom-left corner to hand the hosts a 1-0 lead. Tomba Singh tested Padam Chettri from distance late in the first half, but the Mohammedan goalkeeper was equal to the effort as Inter Kashi carried their slender advantage into the break.
Mohammedan emerged with renewed intent in the second half and came close to levelling in the 55th minute. Forward F Lalremsanga produced a brilliant run before delivering a lofted ball into the area, where substitute Lalngaihsaka rose well but saw his header crash against the crossbar. As the match entered its closing stages, Mohammedan committed numbers forward in search of an equaliser. Lalngaihsaka and Lalremsanga combined dangerously in stoppage time, but the final effort drifted just wide, summing up a frustrating evening for Mehrajuddin Wadoo's side. Inter Kashi managed the closing minutes with composure, with goalkeeper Shubham Dhas ensuring there were no late scares, as the hosts secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory.
Bengaluru FC 1 - 2 Kerala Blasters
(Ndiaye (OG) 28'; Bertomeu 61', Franchu 79')
The Kerala Blasters registered their first win of this ISL season, and their first win ever at the Kanteerava Stadium, as they beat ten-man Bengaluru FC 2-1 on Saturday evening, with the winner coming from debutant Franchu.
Bengaluru took the lead through an own goal midway through the first half, after Ryan Williams's cross from the right was deflected into his own net by Fallou Ndiaye.
However, the game turned in the 33rd minute, when Bengaluru attacking midfield Braian Sanchez was sent off for violent conduct, in a completely justified decision from the officials. The Blasters got into the game through Kevin Yoke on the left, but they couldn't find an incisive edge in the first half.
Early in the second half, though, they found the equaliser, as Victor Bertomeu was played through on goal by the excellent Ebindas Yesudasan, and the Spaniard finished calmly past Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. While there was little he could have done about the first goal, the second goal will go down as a Gurpreet mistake, as Franchu ran down the right and hit a shot from a narrow angle, and the ball went through Gurpreet's legs.
Bengaluru struggled to create chances while being a man down, and only had a couple of sniffs in the second half, through Monirul Molla and Ashique Kuruniyan, but neither effort really troubled Arsh Anwer Sheikh in the Blasters goal.
Chennaiyin 1-3 East Bengal
(Irgan Yadwad 28', Edmund Lalrindika 7', Bipin Singh 83', Nandhakumar Sekar 90+6')
East Bengal have moved up to fifth spot in the standings after two late goals gave them a 3-1 win over Chennaiyin at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.
Bipin Singh and Nandhakumar Sekar scored the goals late into the match after Edmund Lalrindika gave them an early lead while Irfan Yadwad equalised for Chennaiyin.
Edmund opened the scoring in the seventh minute after breaking the line with his run as Chennaiyin defenders failed to mark him. With just the goalkeeper to beat, he made no mistake in converting the chance.
Yadwad equalised for Chennaiyin after a superbly timed run on a long pass, taking a touch and calmly volleying past the keeper.
It seemed the match would end in a draw but in the 83rd minute, PV Vishnu put in a delightful cross into the middle which was converted by Bipin Singh from a close range. Nandhakumar sealed the game in the injury time after converting the chance on a counter-attack.
After the win, East Bengal have 14 points from seven matches while Chennaiyin are 12th with just five points from seven games.
Goa 3-1 Odisha
(Dejan Dražić 62', Pol Moreno 81', Brison Fernandes 90+4' (P), VP Suhair 90+7')
FC Goa have moved up to fifth place in the standings after a comfortable 3-1 win against Odisha at the Fatorda Stadium.
All goals came in the second half with Dejan Dražić opening the scoring in the 62nd minute, his fifth of the season. He received the ball after breaking the offside trap and despite the full fledged tackle from Carlos Delgado, he managed to slot it past the goalkeeper.
Pol Moreno then doubled the tally with a smart freekick through the wall to beat Amrinder Singh. Goa earned a late penalty after a foul from Delgado, which was neatly converted by Brison Fernandes. VP Suhair added a goal for Odisha late into the injury time but by then, the match was already in favour of the home side.
NorthEast United 0-3 Sporting Delhi
(Joseph Sunny 65', 69', Mohammed Aimen 80')
Sporting Delhi secured a clinical 3-0 win over NorthEast United thanks to a superb performance from Joseph Sunny at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati.
All three goals came in the second-half with Sunny being involved for all. He broke the deadlock in the 65th minute with a composed finish after a brilliant throughball from Mohammed Aimen. The winger added another four minutes, another calm finish after beating his marker to doubly the tally.
Sunny was again in the thick of things when he provided the assist to Aimen for the third goal. Aimen got the ball in the D and as three players were closing in, he found the top right corner to score his second goal in as many games.
With back-to-back wins, Sporting Delhi have moved up to eight points from seven matches.
Jamshedpur FC 1-1 Mumbai City FC
(Sarthak Golui 90' -- Brandon Fernandes 45+2')
A dramatic late equaliser from substitute Sarthak Goloui cancelled out Brandon Fernandes' first-half strike as Jamshedpur FC held Mumbai City FC to a 1-1 draw in a top-of-the-table clash in in Jamshedpur on Thursday.
The result keeps Mumbai City FC at the top of the standings with 18 points, while Jamshedpur FC move to second with 15 points.
The match began at a high tempo, with both sides showing attacking intent early on. Mumbai City had the first attempt in the fourth minute through right winger Vikram Partap Singh, while Jamshedpur responded with a series of forward moves led by Mohammed Sanan, Raphael Messi Bouli, and Ritwik Das.
Despite Jamshedpur's sustained pressure, it was Mumbai City who struck on the brink of half-time with a well-worked move. Joni Kauko initiated the attack on the left flank before finding Noufal PN, who squared the ball into the box for Brandon Fernandes. The midfielder's shot took a heavy deflection off Stephen Eze, to wrong-foot Albino Gomes and roll into the far corner.
As the match entered its closing stages, Jamshedpur intensified their search for an equaliser. Phurba Lachenpa produced a vital save from a long throw, but the pressure finally told in the 90th minute.
From a corner delivered by Nikola Stojanović, the ball travelled towards the far post where Golui rose to meet it, guiding a header that struck the underside of the crossbar and crossed the line, sending the home crowd into delirium;
