Man City 3-0 Brentford: Doku opener inspires hosts to important victory at the Etihad - as it happened

Manchester City shook off their dropped points from earlier in the week after dismissing Brentford 3-0 at the Etihad.

Jérémy Doku was the standout attacker, and delivered a fantastic finish to open the scoring in the second half.

Erling Haaland bundled over before Omar Marmoush made it three in stoppage time.

The result puts City within two points of Arsenal before they visit West Ham United on Sunday.

Here's how it unfolded.

City started the week with a breathless 3-3 draw at Everton -- as a late Doku effort rescued a point for his side, having been 3-1 down with around 20 minutes left.

Keith Andrews and his Brentford side have flown high this season, and fired themselves to a 3-0 win over West Ham last Saturday.

They remain in touch in their quest for European football, and still know that quirks in UEFA's rulebook could even see the Bees into next year's Champions League.

Haaland's finish was his 26th of the season, while Doku now has scored in each of his last three matches.
