Championship final day: Ipswich seal Premier League return, Wrexham fall short - as it happened

After a back-and-forth final day full of customary Championship drama, Ipswich sealed their return to the Premier League while Hull City leapfrogged Wrexham into the playoff places.

Ipswich came into the final day knowing that three points was all that was required and goals from George Hirst, Jaden Philogene and Kasey McAteer delivered just that and confirmed their big-time return after just a season away.

Rob Mac and Ryan Reynold's Wrexham on the other hand suffered late heartbreak after starting the day in the playoffs, with an enthralling 2-2 draw at home to Middlesbrough not enough as their hopes of a fourth straight promotion were ended by Hull's win over Norwich.

Sheffield Wednesday announced their new ownership group before kickoff at Hilssbrough and went on to secure their first and only home win of the season in their Championship farewell.
