Sheffield Shield-winning bowler Damien Wright will return to Tasmania as their new bowling coach while Shawn Bradstreet has been appointed as the new bowling coach of Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL, taking over the roles that were vacated by James Hopes when he was appointed as Sydney Sixers new head coach.

Wright will return to Hobart after completing his stint as bowling coach with West Indies at the Women's T20 World Cup. Wright played in Tasmania's first-ever Sheffield Shield title in 2006-07 taking eight wickets for the match and making 67 with the bat. Nine members of that Tasmania team have gone on to have coaching roles within Australia's domestic system including national men's pace bowling coach Adam Griffith, who Wright will now work with, chair of selectors George Bailey, men's batting coach Michael Di Venuto and women's batting coach Dan Marsh.

"Cricket Tasmania has always held a special place in my heart," Wright said. "The Tigers have played such an important role in my life, both professionally and personally, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return. I can't wait to reconnect with the players and staff and continue to build something special for Tasmania."

Wright has previously been head coach of Hurricanes in the BBL, leading them for four seasons between 2013 and 2017 including guiding them to their first final in 2013-14.

But he will only work with Tasmania's Shield and One-Day Cup squad alongside head coach Jeff Vaughan. Bradstreet has been appointed Hurricanes bowling coach under Vaughan. Bradstreet was in the same role at Sydney Thunder under Trevor Bayliss and New South Wales with Greg Shipperd until both ended when the two coaches were replaced at the end of last season.

Bradstreet has also worked with Hurricanes head of strategy Ricky Ponting as bowling coach with Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket.

Tasmania and Hurricanes General Manager of High Performance Salliann Beams was pleased to have Bradstreet join the Hurricanes program.

"Bradstreet is highly regarded for his technical bowling expertise, tactical understanding of the game and his ability to build strong relationships with players and staff," she said
