Tim David scored 50 of RCB's 95 for 9 BCCI

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David has been issued two demerit points for a level 1 code of conduct breach during his team's match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Raipur on May 10. David will be suspended for a match, if he accumulates one more demerit point.

David was also fined 30% of his applicable match fee for "using a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting," an IPL statement said. He admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by match referee, Amit Sharma.

David was the second RCB team member to be penalised after the game against MI. Their head coach Andy Flower was fined 15% of his applicable match fee for the "use of an audible obscenity" during the game in Raipur. A separate IPL statement had said the breach took place "when Andy spoke aggressively with the fourth umpire."

After beating MI on Sunday, RCB moved up to the top of the points table. They now have 14 points after 11 games, level with Sunrisers Hyderabad (GT) and Gujarat Titans (GT), but the defending champions have a superior net run-rate.
