Never before in the IPL have Chennai Super Kings (CSK) been so poor with the ball as they were against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Sunday night. Here's a look at the match in numbers.
250 for 3 - RCB's total against CSK in their IPL 2026 match on Sunday is their third-highest in the competition. It is also the highest by any team against CSK, bettering the 231 for 4 by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2014 and 231 for 3 by Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2024.
RCB have three totals of 250-plus in the IPL, the second-most by any team after Sunrisers Hyderabad (five). Across all T20s, only India (seven) and SRH have more than three 250-plus totals.
4 - Consecutive wins for RCB against CSK in the IPL, all while defending 190-plus totals. It's the first time RCB have won four on the trot against CSK; their previous best sequence was three wins between 2009 and 2010. The latest streak started in 2024 before RCB completed a double over CSK for the first time in 2025.
97 - Runs RCB scored in the last five overs of their innings, the joint-second-highest in the IPL. RCB hold the record for scoring 112 runs against the now-defunct Gujarat Lions in 2016, while Delhi Capitals also scored 97 in their last five against GT in 2024.
16 - Number of sixes RCB batters hit in the final ten overs of their innings, the second-highest in the IPL, behind the 18 they hit against Lions in 2016. RCB scored 159 runs in the last ten overs, the joint-third-highest by any team in the IPL.
16.82 0 RCB's run rate after Phil Salt was dismissed in the 11th over, after which they scored 157 runs in 9.2 overs. It is the highest run rate for any team in an IPL innings while scoring 100-plus runs after the fall of the second wicket.
70* - Tim David's score on Sunday after coming in to bat in the 15th over. Only one batter has scored 70-plus runs after starting at that stage (or later) in a men's T20: Daniel Sams, who scored 71 against Sussex in 2022 (where fall-of-wickets overs data is available).
68 - Runs David scored in the death overs (17-20) are the most by any batter in an IPL innings. Only four batters have scored more runs at the death in a men's T20 innings (where ball-by-ball data is available).
202 - Wickets for Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the IPL. He became the second player to complete 200 wickets in the competition, after Yuzvendra Chahal, who has 224 wickets.
50 - Runs Sarfaraz Khan scored in the powerplay, the first to do so in the IPL, while coming to bat at No. 4 or lower. The previous highest was 43 by Tilak Varma against GT in 2023.
Only one batter in men's T20s has scored 50-plus runs in the powerplay while batting at No. 4 or lower before Sarfaraz - 66* off 17 by Sahil Chauhan against Cyprus in 2024 (where ball-by-ball data is available).
9 - CSK batters hit at least one six in the chase, with Ayush Mhatre and Matt Henry being the exceptions. It is the first instance of nine batters hitting a six in a T20 innings.
Earlier, all five batters in the RCB innings hit sixes. It is only the second T20 game with 14 batters hitting sixes, the other being a BBL 2020-21 game between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder.
