Warwickshire 216 for 4 (Webster 112, Mousley 71*) beat Somerset 215 for 4 (Hermann 90*, Gregory 55*) by six wickets

Beau Webster belted a brilliant maiden T20 century as Warwickshire registered their first victory of the Vitality Blast campaign, beating holders Somerset by six wickets at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.

The Australian international raised 112 from 61 deliveries with nine fours and seven sixes and dominated a stand of 145 in 12.5 overs with Dan Mousley, who weighed in with an unbeaten 36-ball 71 as the Bears reached a victory target of 216 with two balls to spare.

Jordan Hermann had earlier top-scored with 90 not out from 48 balls with nine fours and sixes sixes to help Somerset to 215 for 4. The South African left-hander combined with Lewis Gregory - who smashed a 26-ball 55 not out - in a high-octane partnership of 117 off the last eight overs, but it was not enough to prevent Somerset suffering a fourth straight defeat in the Central and West Group.

Somerset raced to 35 off 21 deliveries after being put in, only to lose Tom Banton, caught at mid-on off the bowling of Webster for 24. Fellow opener Josh Thomas departed in the next over, top-edging a lifting delivery from Richard Gleeson to deep third with the score 39 for 2.

Hermann spearheaded a recovery in alliance with James Rew, the third-wicket pair adding 59 in 7.4 overs to put Somerset back in credit. Rew adopted a supporting role, contributing 28 before hoisting Jordan Thompson to deep midwicket.

Younger sibling Thomas Rew was bowled by the next delivery as Somerset slipped to 98 for 4 in the 13th, but Hermann went to a 30-ball half century with five fours and three sixes to give the innings renewed impetus.

He found a willing ally in Gregory, the fifth-wicket pair raising 50 from 25 balls before launching a fearsome late assault as the Bears bowling wilted. Opening his shoulders, Gregory smashed three sixes and a four in one Mousley over and went to a blistering 50 from 22 balls with a towering six off Thompson as the hundred partnership materialised from just 41 deliveries.

Zen Malik was run out by Lewis Goldsworthy without scoring, but Rob Yates and Webster added 45 in 4.3 overs to give the reply lift-off. Yates had raised 24 from 15 when he flicked a ball from Alfie Ogborne off his legs and was held at short fine leg.

Somerset's respite proved short-lived, Mousley joining Webster to propel the score to 92 for 2 at halfway as the third-wicket pair put Somerset's seamers under pressure. Webster went to 50 off 35 deliveries to nudge Warwickshire ahead on DLS as rain began to fall.

Struggling to control a wet ball, Somerset's bowlers had no answer to the onslaught as Webster went to three figures from 54 balls, while Mousley's half-century took 29 deliveries. Gregory had Webster caught long-off with 25 more required from 13 balls, but Mousley kept his cool to see the job through.
