Australia Under-19s 86 for 4 (Brain 39, Baloda 4-26) and 174 trail India Under-19s 315 (Biswas 73, Chauhan 52, Green 7-110) by 55 runs
Fifties from India Under-19s captain Yashbardhan Chauhan and Abhipray Biswas earned them a big 141-run lead on day two of their second Youth Test against Australia Under-19s in Ahmedabad. Legspinner Spencer Green took 7 for 110 to keep India to 315, but by stumps, Australia had slid to 86 for 4. Left-arm spinner Tanmay Baloda took all four wickets.
Once India resumed from their overnight score of 38 for 2, Chauhan stitched together a 68-run partnership with Kushagra Ojha (29). Ojha fell as Green's second victim of the innings in the 32nd over, and Chauhan fell just two overs later for 52 off 83 deliveries.
Manal Chauhan (34) and Aryan Yadav (33) resurrected the innings with a 67-run partnership of their own for the fifth wicket. But it was wicketkeeper Biswas's rapid knock from No. 7 - he scored a 62-ball 73, featuring 11 fours and two sixes - that allowed India to secure a huge first-innings lead.
Biswas was the ninth wicket to fall, Green's final scalp of the day. But Priyanshu Singh (30*) and Tanmay Baloda (28) provided further resistance in the form of a 42-run tenth-wicket stand.
Thereon, Australia's top four all departed to Baloda to decisively hand India the advantage. Baloda took 4 for 26 while bowling 11 out of the 26 overs Australia faced. No. 4 Eli Brain provided some recovery with a rapid 39 off 35, but he too fell to Baloda as his final scalp of the day.
Blake Cattle and Zed Hollick played out the final four overs of the day to take Australia to 86 for 4, still trailing by 55 runs.
