Oklahoma Sooners @ Kansas Jayhawks

Tockey, Johnson, Gambill hit home runs to power Oklahoma past Kansas
Dayton Tockey, Camden Johnson and Trey Gambill homered to spark Oklahoma to a dominant 8-1 victory over Kansas on Saturday at Hoglund Ballpark in the opening game of the NCAA Lawrence Super Regional.
Oklahoma (37-22) was led by a strong start from freshman Cord Rager, who was nearly untouchable over six innings. Rager allowed just one hit and a walk while striking out six batters to stifle the Jayhawks' offense. The Sooners' bats provided more than enough support, with Tockey delivering a three-run homer, Johnson adding a two-run shot and Gambill contributing a solo blast. Gambill finished 2-for-4, while Brendan Brock also had a multihit game, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jason Walk went 2-for-5 with a double and a stolen base.
The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when a costly error by Kansas shortstop Tyson LeBlanc opened the floodgates. With the bases loaded and one out, a fielder's choice brought in the first run. On the next play, Tockey launched his three-run home run to left-center, giving the Sooners a 4-0 lead. All four runs in the inning were unearned.
Oklahoma extended its margin in the fifth. Following a leadoff double by Walk, Johnson hit a two-run homer to right field to make it 6-0. Later in the inning, Gambill crushed a solo shot to center field, pushing the score to 7-0. The Sooners added their final run in the seventh on an RBI single from Brock.
Kansas (45-17) struggled to generate any offense against Rager and the Sooners' bullpen. The Jayhawks' only run came in the bottom of the eighth on a solo home run by Jordan Bach, who went 1-for-3. Augusto Mungarrieta was the only Jayhawk with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4. Starting pitcher Dominic Voegele surrendered seven runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and three home runs in 4⅔ innings.
Up next: Oklahoma hosts Kansas at Hoglund Ballpark on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET in Game 2.
